Book Review: Game Plan for Life

Game Plan for Life
by Joe Gibbs

I have always thought that you can learn a lot from another person's story - both their triumphs and failures - so I thought Game Plan for Life would be an interesting read from 3-time Super Bowl champ and NASCAR champ, Joe Gibbs. A success in the world's eyes, I was interested to hear what he would have to say about being successful in God's eyes.

Gibb's starts off the book by sharing with the reader his own story of triumph and failure. He then goes on to discuss some of the tougher questions that men (and women) struggle with including Finances, Health, Relationships, Vocation, The Bible, Creation, God, Sin and Addiction, Salvation, Purpose, and Heaven. Gibb's introduces each chapter then recruits an "expert" to give the practical application. His team includes authors Ravi Zacharias, Chuck Colson and Randy Alcorn, among others.

Though not necessarily an avid sports fan, I found the book to be relatively easy to read even if it was geared more towards men. Gibb's seems to open about both triumphs and failures, showing that often more can be learned through the struggles of life than the successes. I also appreciated his use of expert resources rather than just relying entirely on his own ideas about God, finances, etc. I'll probably pass this along to one of my football-loving guy friends.

I received a copy of this book free from Tyndale House Publishers as part of their Tyndale Blog Network. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
