...He is risen, indeed!
Let me just start by saying I love celebrating Easter weekend and the reminder of the God's great gift and sacrifice that was Jesus' death on the cross. I'm thankful for the reminder that God's love is so much greater than anything I can comprehend.
I spent this Easter in Atlanta celebrating the weekend with family and friends. On Friday night I was out in Conyers with my old Young Life friends for a Good Friday worship service. The service was led some very talented friends of mine. It was so special to worship with people I consider my family (this designation was especially true in college when I spent most of my time living life with these people). We stayed around the church for a long while after just chatting and catching up with one another. Around 10:30 we finally decided we should move the party to a restaurant and get some food. It was a tough choice between Waffle House and Frontera. Chips and salsa won. We stayed until they pretty much kicked us out.
Saturday was spent with my friend Anne's family who was in town from the west coast. It involved a delicious birthday lunch for her sister and a sweet time of conversation. I've only met her parents one other time when I was out in California for her wedding and stayed with her parents, but I can honestly say I feel like I'm part of the family. It was so wonderful to see them!
On Sunday I attended an Easter service at a new church near where I live. The worship was good and the sermon, at the time, seemed pretty good but I honestly couldn't tell you now what the pastor talked about. It had something to do with the gardener being the first to see Jesus and how we usually gloss right over that part. He tied it back to Genesis and the creation story, which is something I'm not sure I had really ever considered or heard before. I wish I could remember the details! The rest of the day was spent with my sister just hanging around the house. It was a much needed restful day.
