Saying Goodbye

I do not love saying good bye to people. But the unfortunate reality of my involvement with Young Life and specifically the camping side of the ministry is that goodbye's happen all too frequently. People are part of the ministry for a season. Some seasons tend to last a little longer but the leaving part seems to be inevitable. I've been around Sharptop for quite a few years now and have been pretty invested in camp the last 3 summers. For better or for worse, this group accepted me into their family and I loved them all dearly. And the realization that this Sunday was the last time I'd see all of their faces together at camp made me really sad. I'm so excited for what is next in all of their lives but selfishly I'll miss seeing them every weekend. I'll miss the walks up the hill or to pioneer, dates on the rocking chair, moving tarps and easy-ups, watching welcomes from the bear den deck, folding shirts in the store and so many other great things about summer at camp. But mostly I'm going to miss the people and all the sweet conversations that happened while doing all of those things I just mentioned. That is what made this summer and this past year truly great. The people. The relationships. And the things that connected us all together - Jesus.

So because I hate to say "good bye" I'll just say "see you soon" STC interns. You'll always have a place to stay when you come visit.
